Wayne Porter's profile

AI and Concept Design

I consider myself a Designer first and an Artist second. Through the experience of my career path, I personally and professionally have found a balance between these distinctions by removing my ego and emotion from the work I generate for my clients. In doing so, I have made it my goal to always…

(1) solve the client’s problem
(2) deliver high quality deliverables
(3) manage the client’s expectations.

AI has proven itself over the past year that not only can it match the quality of any visual designer or artist on earth, but it can also over deliver in quantity hands down better than any human ever will. I have spent the last few days testing and researching how this software works, and how as a human, I can use the software or at least be comfortable with it being a skill and a tool to support my career for the foreseeable future.

With that said, the attached images represent a series of exercises where I use Midjourney to support the goal of creating style frames for cinematic experiences, playing with various subject matter, processes and styles.

The below presentation is for exploration, inspiration and conversation and nothing more. It is meant a three part series where I dive into Midjourney and explore its capabilities, speed, strengths and weaknesses.

Exploration 1: Artificial Intelligence and Concept Design
